Blueacre Seafood, Downtown Seattle

Conceived by husband and wife team Kevin and Teresa Davis of Steelhead Diner, Chef Kevin says this is his idea of "responsible, approachable, and amazing seafood".  The seafood house restaurant's décor is a modern version of the classic steam-liner with its nickel accents, blue glass, wood paneling, and leather booths.  This  is a perfect lunch spot offering great food at reasonable speed and pricing.  We brought the GCIA board here for lunch during our board meeting in Seattle.

A group favorite was definitely Cappy's Spicy Cioppino.  Just the right amount of heat combined with an abundance of fresh seafood which included wild gulf shrimp, mussels, clams, and fish.  The dish is finished with a bruschetta and a spicy rouille.  Another great dish is the Nordstrom Salad, named for the Flagship store that sits adjacent to the building.  A bed of local greens piled high with tomatoes, onion, bleu cheese, bacon, hard boiled egg, avocado, and a generous heap of Dungeness crab.

Over the course of the weekend, we made a couple lunch visits.  On both occasions we ordered the Green Curry Mussels.  The sauce was made with coconut milk, charred lime, cilantro, ginger, and chili and of course green curry.  The mussels were fresh and plump and the sauce was delicious to mop up with the crusty white house bread.  One dish that raised skepticism was the Pickled Herring but any doubt was quickly turned around.  The Herring had a mild pickling and was served with pickled onions, horseradish sour cream, and toasted seed bread; great flavor and presentation.

There were many other great dishes and a nice wine list.  We also definitely recommend their other concept, Steelhead Diner, which is situated adjacent to Pikes Place Market. It is a more casual restaurant with great food, good wine list and a vibrant atmosphere.
