I went to a place called The Cowfish this evening in Charlotte right across the street from Roosters in South Park. The concept has about 6 menus in one including burgers, sushi, and something they say they invented called "burgushi" which are rolls mostly made of meat and not fish. I opted out of the bar-b-q-shi as prompted by our waiters advice and had the Surf and Turf roll which is a tuna roll with scallop topped with filet mignon served with a crushed ginger dipping sauce.
The appetizer of Blackened Tuna Nachos consisted of 5 wonton chips with Crab Rangoon Dip, avocado salsa, tomatoes, seared rare blackened yellowfin tuna and microgreens. I also ordered the Crab Rangoon dip; creamy crab rangoon with parmesan panko crust, wonton crisps, Thai sweet chili sauce, and chives.
It is true fusion food for better or worse. The high traffic allows them to keep ingredients fresh on an extensive overwhelming menu and they also use clever twists on words to go along with fusion menu descriptions which adds interest. For a Thursday night at 7 pm they had a 45 minute wait and huge traffic with no seating at the bar due to full house. They have just opened a store at Universal CityWalk Orlando and Raleigh as well; an Atlanta location is also slated to open soon.
