ICCA is heading to visit our neighbors to the north this August 14-15 for the fall ICCA Culinary Immersion in Toronto. Join us as we explore one of the world’s most diverse cities dubbed the ‘Chicago of Canada.’ We’ll take 15 members and 5 sponsors on a crawl through Kensington Market – an ethnic hub within the city. We’ll taste a variety of cuisines one after another like Seven Lives Tacos for authentic Baja-style tacos, Film Café for Curry Poutine and more!
Stop by gold-medal winner of all things chocolate, Soma Chocolate, for their interesting flavor combinations like truffles of Fir tree, balsamic, olive oil and pop rocks! Head over to the Distillery District to tour Ontario Spring Water Sake Company and learn more about the different sake varieties. We’ll stop by Michelin-star Chef Ramon Samarro’s Madrina Bar y Tapas to try what is to be considered one of the best jamóns in the world, Jamón Joselito 2014. We’ll cap the night with dinner at Nick Liu’s restaurant Dailo, a tribute to the dishes his ancestors have been eating in China for centuries.
Start the second day at Simit & Chai Co. to hear from owner John Ulgen about a traditional Turkish breakfast and to try their simit – a Turkish bagel. Take in the views of Lake Ontario at Pearl Harbourfront with their creative spin on dim sum before heading up to the top of the CN Tower for a wine tasting in the World’s tallest wine cellar!
And don’t forget, once you arrive to the host hotel, Hyatt Regency, everything is paid for by the association and our generous sponsors. To RSVP, call (407) 539-1459 or email rsvp@iccachefs.com to reserve on of the last remaining spots. If you arrive early enough on August 13th, there will be a casual dinner near the hotel as an unofficial kickoff to the Immersion before we get started on Wednesday!
