This restaurant is one of the most creative in terms of plating and presentations. The company was founded as the caterer to the elite in Miami before opening the bricks and mortar location that has become one of the most publicized restaurants in South Florida. Now celebrating 10 years of success on South Beach, the restaurant is the creation of events impresario Barton G. Weiss, whose innovative approach to entertaining has received worldwide acclaim.
Barton G. Weiss is an internationally recognized event concept designer, restaurateur and culinary visionary. In his two-decade career, Weiss has created more than 20,000 events for clients including the NFL, PGA, USGA, Ryder Cup and BMW Championship. In 2010, Weiss took over operations of the former Versace Mansion on Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive and is opening his second Barton G in LA this summer.
Menu items include appetizers: Lobster Pop Tarts served in the toaster at your table; Tipsy Tuna comes on a tray that has a fountain continuously dropping water on dry ice to create steaming lava flowing experience.
The entrees include Lured by Grouper, an almost impossible dish to photograph with the four foot fishing lure attached to the base that holds a succulent seafood dish. The Lobster Trap Truffle Mac & Cheese or Samurai Tuna (shown above with Susan Stacey-Ryan) are two more examples of creative entree ideas with even more impressive tableside presentations.
The desserts are perhaps more over-the-top than anything else on the menu with Big Top Cotton Candy (see photo below) leading the way with a four foot centerpiece of cotton candy surrounded by four flavored popcorn selections. The Chocolate Fun-Do is a chocolate fountain with four pounds of Belgian Dark Chocolate brought tableside at the inexpensive cost of $145.00. Finally the Carnival Fun Cakes feature a Dunk-The-Duck Shooting Gallery in the background and of course it lights up.
